Mayday

Its Mayday today and its so poignant that despite its celebration(holiday) across the world, the world's largest capitalistic economy,The US of A, does not even celebrate it. It considers Sep 4 as a Labour Day, which in an effort not only to be different but to eliminate any possibility of the American people to feel that they are part of a global milieu. American politicians and companies have successfully managed to isolate its people and their unions from the global economy. So, employee laws are blatants floundered and workers rights are limited to very few options. As the American economy finally integrates withe the global economy jobs have moved ,replaced and at time eliminated by the moving of jobs offshore with very little resistance from its peoples or unions. One can be hired and fired at the will of the corporation, while its CEO make billions in personal wealth. An average american CEO owns a boat / and some own a plane or two. That too in a country, which has the highest rising levels of poverty. Its worst for a poor African American and any poor in America to move up his social status. I know this may happen in India, but one has to see what is happening in America to see the real picture of how far capitalism can go if unchecked. One will be shocked to see the news media. It almost covers nothing from around the world. The last bit of big news was the death of Anna Nicole Smith( a pornstar and a pin up who had nothing worthwhile to contribute and wh married a oil tycoon purely based on her physical attributes). That too happens in a country that is deeply religious,(every sunday almost 80% of American christians go to church). Its a ironical hypocrisy where US is a country which produce the largest pornograhical material and also people vote to go to war because it deeply belives Islam is at war with Christainity. Further, notion of sex and relationships are governed by Catholic laws at least for the Christians, which are the most repressive and conservative among any religion. (Hinduism from that perspective is the most liberal and scientific ).
The world cup cricket took place in the same continent and did not even got mentioned for 2 seconds. ( I am not joking). Not even the win by Australia last week, and its not suprising that American people voted America to go to war based on complete lies and fiction. The news channel ( NBC, CNN, FOX(woned by Rupert murdoch..the most guilty), MSNBC) none showed the real story. It was only PBS or public broadcasting service( ironically like DD in India..)_that really shows the truth. So, in effective its the exact opposite to what India was till 1992 but more murky and dirty. PBS is the most informative and innovative television channel in US, funded by the people and the state.
